Set the scanner to send Enter after each scan. That gives you the cleanest scan → add → next item workflow without extra clicking.

These are the fastest checks to get barcode scanning working reliably in Solentx.

Use a USB scanner

Keyboard-style scanners work best. USB scanners usually work instantly, and Bluetooth scanners should use keyboard mode.

Enable Enter after scan

This is the biggest speed improvement because it lets Solentx add the scanned item without extra clicking.

  • Turn on Enter suffixLook for CR, LF, CR/LF, or Send Key settings.
  • Save scanner settingsSome scanners require scanning a setup barcode.

Keep the input focused

Most scanning issues happen because the barcode input is not active. Click the barcode field once before scanning.

  • Watch the cursorMake sure the cursor is in the barcode field.
  • Close popupsDialogs or modals can steal focus from the scanner field.

Troubleshoot quickly

Start with a few simple checks before changing Solentx settings or product data.

  • Test in NotepadIf it types there, the scanner is likely working.
  • Try another USB portThis can rule out a connection issue.
Test with a real sale.
Add products, scan items, and complete a test sale to make sure your checkout flow feels smooth before daily use.
